Dear Girls Everywhere,

I know that US Weekly and People show you weekly photos of the blondes and brunettes of Hollywood and New York and since that is all they show you red heads must be EVIL. And I know that bands like Paramore make it seem like the few red haired girls that do exist are just girls who yell a lot and seem really angst-y and young.

But let's look at a small list of some of the awesome red heads in the world....

So, no, I don't ever again want to spend thirty minutes having two girls try and convince me to go platinum blonde - I've done it and loved it but it's not really me. I don't have anything against blondes, I love Marilyn just as much as the next girl. But, I like my red hair and that's why tonight, I made it even more red...just to spite you.

Cause that's what red heads do.

The Internet is Ruining Dating: Part 1

I think dating is exponentially harder in this internet-y time because, inevitably, when we start dating I will look really hard at your facebook page/twitter/blog/whatevs and find out something terrible. You know, I'll learn that you're really passionate about Phish or that you have a living room full of taxidermied animals or a Nightmare Before Christmas tattoo. This is stuff that can be really scary when you're first dating someone. In the normal world, I might not learn these things about you until we had been dating for a while and it's possible that I would already like you enough to overlook them.

All I'm saying is, I don't know what I'm saying cause I have a blog and facebook and possibly/probably seem totally repulsive because of them. I guess we should all be careful about the way we present ourselves.

Think of Jimi! Think of Brian! Leave a little mystery.

don't break my rock and roll heart

(photo of me by Andy Mosqueda)

WOW. wow. wow. wow. It's been a while since I have written. I have a great excuse though, no, really, I SWEAR! I have a new job and I love it. BUT I have not really adjusted yet to the new schedule and have somehow been conned into having lots of sleepy/watching tv/eating food fun with the boy instead of doing things like working on the demo, making new cute things for etsy, and writing new songs. So, forgive me world, but once I see Alice and Wonderland tonight I will return to the world of productivity and work on finding the right balance.

Right now, I am reading "Mainlines, Blood Feasts, and Bad Taste: A Lester Bangs Reader" and holy crap guys, this book is legit. Too legit to quit. Okay, let me step back and say that all through my life, I have read pieces here and there by Lester Bangs on the magical internet and in other compilation works and so on and so forth but this is my first time reading
this book and it is the best thing I have read in a while.

Right now I am reading the section of all the articles on the Rolling Stones and it starts with one where Lester talks about crying over them being sell outs and his girlfriend dragging him to go see them and it just moved my little rock and roll heart.

I am sorry to be lazy and post this in both my blogs. Forgive me, I promise to find a balance soon and in a few weeks I should also have a new point and shoot that I think will make the bloggy blog world a little more fun for all.

kat

And the Livin' Is Easy

Guys, today is my favorite day in St. Louis. It is that first completely perfect post-winter day when no one in the entire city can resist the warm, sunny sun so everyone rolls out to Forest Park for picnics and kite flying and fun. It was, in fact, so warm and wonderful that I rolled down the windows while I was driving home! Like, fuck yea! Spring's coming, for real!

18 Things to Do This Spring and Summer:
-Picnic in every pavillion at Tower Grove Park (there are lots)
-Fly fly fly kites
-Jello fight!
-Ride bikes. Leisurely.
-Eat more gelato
-Go out walkin after midnight
-More swinging and drinking tall boys with friends
-Sparklers!
-Pick lots of flowers.
-Wear pretty dresses
-Carnivals Galore!
-Go to tons of great shows
-Bonfires!
-Drink root beer floats with krazy straws
-Outside dancing
-Lay in the grass as much as possible
-Read a million books in the hammock
-Look at stars from the hood of White Lightning
I wish you picnics with every flavor of Izze!,

Things To Remember

-Roller skates are infinitely cooler than blades. Ask anyone.
-If you're outlining your lips with lipstick in the car and get distracted, don't forget to fill them in later or you will look like a maniac.
-It's already March. Make shit happen in 2010!
-You can only eat so many Reese's eggs before they start to taste horrible. DON'T over do it. They'll never be the same.
-Mom's Deli and secrets are better when you share them with friends.
-Only tell your secrets and only tell them to your best, most trustworthy friends. Don't go blabbing other people's secrets!
-Don't you turn your back on love.
-Listening to npr doesn't make you a nerd.
-Try to stop buying so many books. Use the library, fool!
-If you're wearing glasses with dark frames, you should probably be wearing red lipstick.
-Just because the color 45s at the Record Exchange are BEAUTIFUL, you don't have to spend ALL of your money on them.

XOXO,
Michelle
